Care & cleaning

How to wash, dry and keep a shine on Pasban AISI 201 steel without scratching it.

Soap, water, a soft cloth. That is the list.

AISI 201 stainless steel does not ask for special cream. Ordinary dish soap, a sponge, a rinse, a wipe. The piece that looks tired is almost always the piece that was left wet in a stack or scrubbed with a cheap steel-wool pad.

Dishwasher is fine — top or bottom rack. If you hand-wash, do not leave it in the basin overnight with leftover salan. Acid and salt sitting in a puddle will spot any steel, including 201. Rinse, wipe, done.

For the full grade story — why we stamp 201 on the base — read Our steel. For a scratch that will not wipe off, the warranty page is the next stop.

If something looks wrong

Heat tint. It is cosmetic. A drop of vinegar on a cloth lifts most of it. It does not mean the steel is failing.
A cream cleaner used gently is all right on satin. A green scratch pad will leave grey lines on a mirror jug that you will see every time guests come. Soft sponge only on polished pieces.
It should not, on AISI 201. Fill with warm water and a teaspoon of baking soda, sit ten minutes, rinse. If an odour stays, write to us — that is not normal for this grade.
