Our steel

AISI 201 stainless steel — manganese-alloyed, stamped on every Pasban mug, jug and glass, pressed in Gujranwala.

AISI 201

Not all steel is the same steel.
The number on the base is the one that matters.

Pasban pieces are pressed from AISI 201 stainless — a manganese-alloyed grade we stamp on the base of every mug, jug and glass. Dried after washing, it stays bright next to the sink, takes chai without staining, and keeps a water set looking like steel after years of daily use.

Why 201

AISI 201 stainless. That is the grade we stamp.

AISI 201 is the stainless we chose for Pakistani kitchens. It is hard, bright and built for daily washing — mugs of doodh patti, jugs beside the sink, glasses next to achar. We stamp 201 on the base so you know what you bought.

  • AISI 201, not a slogan

201 stainless uses manganese in the alloy. It is the grade we press, polish and pack in Gujranwala, and the number you will find on the base of every Pasban piece.

  • Pressed, not patched

Bodies are drawn from a single sheet wherever the shape allows. Fewer welds means fewer places for water to sit and fewer seams to polish out later.

  • Gauged for daily use

0.8 mm walls over a 1.2 mm base. Light enough to lift when full, thick enough that a knock on the tiled floor does not crease the piece.

What we actually put on the table

Walk a Pakistani kitchen and you will see why the grade matters. A steel glass sits next to achar. A jug lives beside the sink. A mug takes boiling doodh patti twice a day. If the alloy is wrong, you get rust rings, a dull grey bloom, and a faint metallic taste in the water.

AISI 201 stainless steel, washed and dried, does not do that in ordinary kitchen use. It takes chloride, citrus and the salt in every salan. Wash it, dry it, leave it out. It still looks like steel, not like something that has been through a monsoon.

We make the range you will actually use: stainless steel mugs in two sizes, ribbed and urn-shaped jugs with hinged lids, unbreakable glasses, and seven-piece water sets for the guest table. Every piece is AISI 201, dishwasher safe, and backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defect.

If you want to see how a flat sheet becomes a jug, that happens in one building in Gujranwala. The workshop page is the honest version of that story.

Questions we get about the steel

AISI 201. We stamp the grade on the base of every Pasban mug, jug, glass and water set.
Properly dried 201 will not spot in ordinary kitchen use. Leave standing water in a crease for weeks and any steel can mark. Wash, wipe, done. That is the whole care routine.
Yes. Top or bottom rack. Skip the cheap steel-wool pads; a soft sponge and ordinary dish soap are enough.
No. It does not hold odours or flavours the way plastic does. Water tastes like water.
